Mississippi State Health Insurance

Health benefits are administered by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi.  Two options are available through the self-funded State health insurance plan - base coverage and select coverage.

The Mississippi Community College Board pays the full premium for employee-only coverage under the base plan option and a portion of the premium for employee-only coverage under the select plan option. The employee is responsible for the remaining portion of employee-only coverage under the select plan option and the full cost of any dependent coverage.

National Health Insurance Marketplace

The Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance Marketplace:  Questions and Answers

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), commonly called The Affordable Care Act (ACA), or Healthcare Reform, provides for a national Health Insurance Marketplace.  The Marketplace is a service that enables individuals who do not have insurance to find and buy health care coverage. The Mississippi Community College Board is required by law to inform employees about the Marketplace, and all employees receive a notice that explains the Marketplace, entitled “New Health Insurance Marketplace Coverage Options and Your Health Coverage.”  All employees, even those who are not eligible for the State and School Employees’ Plan, are required to receive the Marketplace notice form.

No action is required if an employee has health insurance through the State and School Employees’ Health Plan.  MCCB employees are not required to enroll in a plan through the Marketplace.
